What Jeff Horn said before Anthony Mundine attacked

Jeff Horn has revealed what he said before Anthony Mundine exploded at their fiery weigh-in on Thursday.

Tensions between the two flared when Mundine grabbed Horn by the throat as the pair faced off.

A quick shove and some light punches to Horn’s trainer Glenn Rushton’s open palm and the scuffle was done.

Mundine attributed his aggression to simply being ready to fight, an argument given credence by his animalistic roar after tipping the scales at 70.25kg.

Horn later revealed what the fighters were saying to each other before the angry outburst.

“I said, ‘I hope you’re ready’, because he was talking about, ‘you’re going down tomorrow night, you’re going to get a boxing lesson’, whatever he was saying,” Horn told reporters.

“I was just like, ‘I hope you’re ready, mate’, and then he must have just cracked it.

“I guess he’s just on edge more than normal.

“I just told him to pretty much bring it on, and he did. But I meant tomorrow night, not now.”

As for Mundine, he couldn’t really remember.

“I don’t know, man. We were just talking sh** to each other,” he said.

“I saw him in front of my face, and I’m like a caged tiger. I’m ready to kill.

“It’s just the way I reacted, I can’t say anything more about that.

“When I’m in situation of confrontation and I feel like my back is against the wall, I’m going to fight back.”

Mundine stood to face a significant financial penalty if he didn’t make the weight but said afterwards he’s like a caged animal ready to pounce.

“I wanted to show them that not only was I gonna make the weight but I was going to make it comfortably,” he said

Horn weighed in at 70.5kg, well above the welterweight marks he’s had to strip weight for in the past.
