Italy's top bishop in ICU with coronavirus

The head of the Italian Bishops' Conference (CEI), Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti, has been moved to an intensive care unit due to a worsening COVID-19-related condition.

The 78-year-old, who was been in a hospital in Perugia since Saturday, was transferred overnight "following a change in his vital parameters," CEI said in a statement on Tuesday.

CEI said Bassetti had not lost consciousness and added that members of the bishops' conference, meeting via videoconference, were praying for him as well as other COVID-19 patients and health professionals.
