Watford star Ismaila Sarr admits ‘everyone would love to play’ for Liverpool as talk of a move to Anfield this summer gathers pace.

As reported by Standard Sport on Wednesday, Liverpool are interested in signing the Senegalese international, with Watford setting an asking price of £40million .

Sarr scored twice and applied an assist in Watford’s shock victory over Liverpool at Vicarage Road last season - what was Liverpool’s first Premier League defeat of the season - and that performance doesn’t appear to have gone unnoticed by the now Premier League champions.

And Sarr admits that the chance to join Liverpool would be a ‘dream’ for any player.

“Liverpool are a really great team, everyone would love to play there,” he told Senegalese outlet Sans Limites.

“They won the Premier League this year and the Champions League last year. But there are other great teams in the English league.

“Frankly, I have yet to make a choice. If I am to leave, I just hope it is for a good team. At the moment, it is just guesswork.”

As things stand, Sarr is set to ply his trade in the second tier of English football after moving to England a year ago in a £30m deal from Ligue 1.

And the 22-year-old says that, if a deal doesn’t materialise, he is fully prepared to play in the Championship.

“I still have years left on my contract with Watford; another four years,” he added.

“If Watford want me to stay, I’ll play in the Championship. A departure depends on them as well as me. This is normal.”
