Investigation after woman dies in hospital

A man will spend Christmas behind bars following the death of a woman on the Sunshine Coast.

Emergency services were called to a Gannawarra Street address about 4.40pm on Sunday, December 22 following reports of a disturbance.

A 47-year-old woman was found with non-life-threatening injuries and taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

She died the following day.

A 58-year-old Currimundi man was taken into custody at the scene and has since been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence) and obstructing police.

He was remanded in custody and is set to front Maroochydore Magistrates Court on January 6.

A post-mortem is yet to be completed on the woman, with investigations into the circumstances of her death under way.
