The Internet Just Brought The Receipts Showing That Donald Trump Previously Donated To Kamala Harris

Welp, it turns out that former president Donald Trump was once aboard the coconut train (aka once donated thousands to Vice President Kamala Harris).

After President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race on Sunday, Representative Jared Moskowitz shared a photo of a $5,000 check Trump wrote for Harris in 2011 during her first bid for California attorney general. "Was a wise investment," he wrote.

If you need a closer look:

Records also show Trump again donated $1,000 to Vice President Kamala Harris's reelection campaign for state attorney general in 2013. His daughter, Ivanka Trump, also donated $2,000 in 2014. Here's all the $8,000 receipts:

Naturally, the internet had many reactions:

At this point, with all the Veep-ness of this election cycle, I wouldn't be surprised if the debate stage turns into a rap battle.

And, um...unfortunately, there were some questionable reactions, too. Lauren Boebert quoted Moskowitz's tweet alleging that "Trump isn't racist" because he donated to a Black woman.

It's giving the virtue signaling many white Americans employ when they think they're allies to marginalized communities but are actively complicit in their marginalization (like pushing abortion bans, ripping away lower prescription drug costs and healthcare access, and cutting education — all plans by far-right conservatives — which disproportionately affect people of color).

It's also similar to when the white family in Get Out continues to try to prove themselves as upstanding "post-racial" Americans (e.g., "I voted for Obama, so I'm not racist" ideology) but are actually nightmarishly racist.

Daniel Kaluuya and Bradley Whitford in a forest scene with text: "By the way, I would have voted for Obama for a third term if I could."

As one Twitter user wrote, "'He can't be racist, he donated to a black woman' is exactly what racists say."

Anyhoo, while some would love to see Kamala spending Trump's money to defeat him, she reportedly didn't keep the $6,000 after all. A Harris spokesperson told the Sacramento Bee in 2020 that she donated the money to a "nonprofit that advocates for civil and human rights for Central Americans."

Well, at least his money went to something good!
