Insurers to 'review' Qld flood decision

Insurance companies may look at clawing back some of the $1.5 billion in payouts to victims of Queensland's 2011 floods after a class action win against the state government.

The NSW Supreme Court on Friday found the state government and dam operators were negligent in operating two dams during the extraordinary rain event that flooded 23,000 properties in Brisbane and Ipswich.

In a statement after the decision, Insurance Council of Australia spokesman Campbell Fuller said insurers "will review today's decision for its commercial implications".
