A method of instantly scoring two intercontinental Qantas flights has been revealed.

Yahoo Finance has confirmed that successfully applying for the Qantas American Express Ultimate credit card before April 14 will allow the cardholder to bag 100,000 frequent flyer points.

A Sydney to Los Angeles flight costs 41,900 and the Sydney to London Heathrow fare is 55,200.

So theoretically you can go to both the USA and the UK with just the points acquired from the new credit card.

Yahoo Finance has contacted American Express for comment.

And you can travel in style while taking those flights, with the Ultimate card also giving customers two Qantas lounge entry vouchers and two American Express airport lounge entries per year.

The card also gives out $450 in Qantas travel credit annually, meaning the $450 annual fee is easily recouped for keen travellers.

To nab the 100,000 points, the customer needs to spend $3,000 on the card within the first three months.

Spending $1,000 a month on a credit card should be achievable for many people with just everyday spending like groceries, petrol, rent, utility bills, dining out and entertainment.

To stop "point hackers" exploiting the deal, the 100,000 is only available to new American Express customers or those who have not had an Amex card within the last 18 months.
