Instagram star mocked for taking fairy lights on plane

An Instagram star has been mocked on social media for an image she shared of herself enjoying a business class flight — whilst draped in fairy lights.

Travel influencer Harimao Lee posted a photo of the luxe conditions of a Cathay Pacific cabin, with a string of lights wrapped around her legs to make the snap sparkle.

But users were quick to poke fun at the setup, calling out influencers for the crazy lengths they’ll go to for likes.

“Trying to bring back the romance and glamour of first class air travel? Amazing the lengths one can go to to get ‘likes’,” one person wrote underneath.

“A tad too contrived for comfort…” another stated.

Some users were just in complete disbelief.

There was even an airline worker who revealed she was “sitting in the seat backwards”. Oops.

However there were some who thought the photo was “beautiful”.

“Great photo and not hurting anyone, keep up the good work,” one fan wrote on Instagram.

“Be unapologetically extra #YAAS,” another said.

Harimao originally shared the photo with her 126,000 followers, along with the caption, “It was the long dark night during the flight from HK to Rome. Stargazing is one thing to do in the cabin”.

The social media star — who is based in Hong Kong — hasn’t responded to her critics, but she has shared more photos from the trip, including another involving fairy lights.
