Instagram influencer's horrific jet ski accident while partying in Bali

An Instagram influencer, 24, is fighting for her life after a jet ski crash on a Bali holiday left her in a coma.

Polina Strelets, from Russia, was celebrating her birthday when the accident occurred on January 20, her mum has said in a social media video.

She suffered leg fractures, damage to her pelvic bone and fluid has accumulated in her brain.

Ms Strelets underwent two surgeries, after which she lapsed into a coma.

Her family say doctors have also diagnosed the 24-year-old with a fat embolism — when fat enters the blood stream.

Very little is known about the jet ski accident other than that Ms Strelets was riding the vehicle when it occurred.

The Instagram influencer posted numerous photos of her holiday in Bali in the weeks leading up to the crash.

"Bali is a magical world that I wish everyone to visit," she captioned a video of her running in a grassy field on January 18.

Mum's plea to bring daughter home

Ms Strelets’ family have been pleading with Russian authorities to help bring the 24-year-old home.

They said that her health insurance was barely able to cover some of the costs of the operations and that a day in hospital in Indonesia is $4,549, Newsflash reports.

Ms Strelets’ mum said on Instagram that doctors told her an air ambulance flight to Russia would cost roughly $277,000.

"We don’t have that kind of money," she said.

Russia bringing Polina home

Russian parliamentary deputy Mikhail Romanov announced on Saturday the young woman will be evacuated home by the Russian government in an air ambulance, Newsflash reports.

"I express my gratitude to [Deputy Prime Minister] Tatyana Golikova for the lightning-fast response to my appeal and prompt assistance in resolving the issue of evacuating the St Petersburg woman," Mr Romanov said.

"Our duty is to fight for the life of every citizen of the country, regardless of where in the world help is needed.

"The sanitary evacuation of Polina and her further treatment on the territory of the Russian Federation is under my personal control."
