Instagram influencer killed in horrific Bali motorbike crash
A teen millionaire and Instagram influencer has died after she crashed her motorbike while in Bali with her boyfriend.
Anastasia Tropitsel, 18, was riding her motorbike at a Kuta resort when she lost control and suffered a serious head injury.
Before the accident the Russian influencer wrote to her 1.2 million followers saying what she was going to have breakfast.
She reportedly crashed into a median strip and disturbing, graphic images show her body on the road, with her arms and legs bent in unnatural positions. Video following the incident showed officials placing her body into a bag.
The head of the local traffic police, Ni Luh Tiviasih, said she received a serious head injury and died at the scene before ambulance officers arrived.
Her body was taken to Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar.
Her boyfriend Viktor said the accident had been caused by the ‘shimmy effect’ taking over the bike, causing Ms Tropitsel to lose control.
“She was riding along a road at a speed of 80 to 100km/h, where everyone drives the same. She always drove safer and more accurately than anyone, and what happened to her is an accident,” he said.
The grieving boyfriend said Ms Tropitsel had been wearing a helmet at the time but it had not saved her.
He denied that she had been riding at an excessive speed at the time.
Ms Tropitsel was a popular blogger who said she made her first Russian million ($20,933) at the age of just 15.
