An evacuation slide that fell from a jetliner into the yard of a suburban home narrowly missed crushing a man who was doing some gardening at the time.
The uninflated slide fell from a Delta Air Lines flight from a Paris to Boston around noon Sunday (local time), a spokeswoman told the Boston Herald.
The pilot reported a loud noise as the plane approached Logan Airport and landed safely, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
Police in Milton, south of Boston, alerted the agency that the slide had been found in a resident’s yard.
Wenhan Huang was doing yard work when the slide took out several branches of his Japanese maple tree, he told the Patriot Ledger.
His neighbour, Stephanie Leguia, was just metres from where it fell and feared it could have killed someone.
