The model wore a custom Con Ilio piece with intricate details, including nude mesh to match her skin tone, 3027 crystals to emulate water, and a corset moulded to the shape of her body.
Pairing a dramatic white train with her wet-look hairstyle, the star drew comparisons to Kim Kardashian’s 2019 Met Gala Thierry Mugler ‘naked’ dress.
The striking 2020 Miss Universe Australia winner explained that her outfit was more than just a dress, taking to Instagram to reveal the meaning behind it.
“Introducing the naked dress by Con Ilio. It took vulnerability to stand in my naked truth when I came out on national TV during my first show - so I wanted a look that represents that.
“This custom gown is an ode to the power that lies in not hiding who you are. The nakedness of the dress stands for freedom, and unrestricted by attempts to shield the body, it represents power in celebrating yourself,” she explained to fans.
The star came out while on Im A Celeb in January this year, telling fake celebrity David Subritsky that she identifies as bisexual.
In February, the model told The Daily Telegraph that she was proud of her decision and felt ‘free’ after coming out.
“I feel happy…the best way to describe it is I feel light and free,” the star said.
“I carried a lot of internalised shame; I was worried people would find out and I was worried what they were going to say. So in coming out, it is a wonderful thing to be able to say I am living my life with pride as opposed to living with shame. That shame has gone,” she continued.
Friends and fans on Instagram were obsessed with Thattil’s look, calling it ‘showstopping’ and ‘insane’.
Singer Madi K didn’t hold back, writing: “UMMM KIM K WHO????? Slay,” while Love Island Australia winner Tina Provis added, “This is the whole moment.”
“This is one of the finest pieces of art I have ever seen, oh my god,” a fan wrote.
“Australia’s Kimmy K,” a third added.
