'I'm out of here!' Tradie leaves work at smoko after winning $10m lotto jackpot

A lucky tradie has thrown down his tools and left work early after finding out he is Australia’s newest millionaire.

The Melbourne construction worker, aged in his 20s, was the sole winner of Tuesday night’s $10 million Oz Lotto jackpot.

The man from Blackburn was notified of the mammoth win while on his smoko break on Wednesday morning and was clearly in disbelief over the news.

“Oh my god! I am in shock! Wow! I don’t know what to say. My heart is beating and I am shaking,” he told a Tatts official.

“I don’t think my family will believe me when I tell them. I am a bit of a jokester so I’ll have to try and convince them.”

The man said he planned to invest in property in the near-future, but announced that his first act as a multi-millionaire was to leave work and celebrate.

“I’ll be buying some houses for sure!” he said.

“But for today I’m walking out of here. I won’t be going back to work after smoko.

“I’m walking out right now. I think everyone will come with me for a celebratory drink!”

The winning numbers in Tuesday’s Oz Lotto’s $40 million draw 1292 were 39, 28, 24, 13, 2, 22 and 19. The supplementary numbers were 5 and 1.
