A man who police think killed his wife and himself in a murder-suicide had made several mysterious comments on his social media in the days leading up to the incident.

Hannah Kang, 25, was killed by her husband, 34-year-old Youree Kang, who then died by suicide in their Austin, Texas, home on Sept. 24, the Austin Police Department said in a statement at the time.

Police responded to the home after Hannah’s aunt requested a welfare check on the couple, the statement said. The aunt said she had not heard from them in 24 hours; she later went to the home and found the couple’s vehicle at the scene but told police that no one was answering the door, per the statement.

When Austin police arrived, they found the couple deceased inside the residence.

"This is a murder-suicide, there are no other persons of interest in their deaths," Austin police tells PEOPLE.

In the days leading up to the incident, Youree wrote several posts on his Facebook page that prompted concern from people who knew him. (Austin police confirmed to PEOPLE the Facebook page belonged to Youree).

“I’m terrified of what’s going to happen to me because everyone is instilling fear in me,” Youree wrote in a post the day before the killings.

“Every time I ask, it’s like everyone knows something, but won’t share it with me,” he wrote.

“My wife has also been acting very strange lately,” he wrote later in the post. “She’s not the same person as I met her. For 10 years, she stuck by my craziness and now she’s quick to a divorce. I was hoping for us to continue to grow with each other.”

In another post the day before, he appeared to express remorse for starting a relationship with Hannah when he was 24-years-old and she was a minor.

“I’ve been a menace in society and I’d like to clear my name. I was in an abusive and toxic mindset when I had first met my wife, Hannah,” he wrote.

“Upon getting to know her, she told me her age (minor) and I still pursued to have a relationship with her. It was wrong of me and I can never give her her precious life back,” he wrote.

His posts appeared concerning to those who knew him.

"I am absolutely and completely heartbroken and in shock…beyond sick to my stomach. I just reached out the other day to check on his well-being as something was very clearly off," one user wrote on Facebook alongside an article about the killings.

"I just messaged Youree the other day after reading some of his posts," wrote another user after the killings. "This is so heartbreaking."
