Two adults and two children have been found dead in a suspected murder-suicide.
The four people, all related, were found dead at a home in Pleasantville, New York, on Thursday afternoon (local time), WABC reports.
Police in Pleasantville discovered the bodies at 1.50pm after school officials asked them to check on the family’s well being. The village’s police chief, Erik Grutzner, said the children had failed to attend school.
A cause of death had not been determined, but Mr Grutzner said officers were treating the home as a crime scene.
He withheld the names of the four people pending notification of other relatives. He also didn’t immediately say how old the children were.
However, residents told News 12 Westchester one of the kids was in preschool and the other in Year 2.
Sources told WABC the deaths are being investigated as a possible murder-suicide alleging the man killed his wife and the two children.
One neighbour told the station the man "worked in the banking world”.
The home where the family was found is on a tree-lined street of single-family houses just a block from both the village’s schools.
