Hunter accidentally shoots and kills 11-year-old daughter in tragic accident

A girl has tragically been killed by her dad after a hunting trip went terribly wrong, police say.

Daisy Grace Lynn George, 11, was out with her dad on Saturday hunting deer in Hallsville, Texas, when he accidentally shot her.

Harrison County Sheriff Brandon Fletcher told reporters Daisy’s dad, whose name hasn’t been released, was with her in the car when he attempted to drop the gun’s hammer and shot her.

“He had thought he had cleared the gun, but unfortunately, he hadn’t,” he said.

Daisy was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

“Anytime a young person loses their life it’s tragic,” he said.

“I hope we never see another [case] like it.”

A GoFundMe page called Daisy “a very special little girl”.

“She was always a joker trying to lift everyone’s spirits. She loved to draw her heart out. Daisy loved to be surrounded by the outdoors. Always down for an adventure big or small,” the page reads.

The county sheriff said he does not expect anyone to be charged over Daisy’s death.

The shooting does, however, remain under investigation.
