Hunt after man slashed in the face during Sydney CBD knife attack


A man has allegedly been slashed in the face with a knife by a suspect who fled the scene on a bike in Sydney’s CBD.

The 28-year-old man was walking through a pedestrian tunnel attached to Central Railway Station at Haymarket.

He was approached by another man who slashed him in the face about 9.30am (local time) on Sunday after a verbal altercation, police said in a statement.

The injured man suffered facial lacerations and was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Detectives have released CCTV images of a man who they believe can help with their inquiries.

The alleged attacker described as having an olive complexion, aged in his 20s or 30s and has dark hair.

He was last seen wearing an orange high-visibility vest, black long-sleeved hooded jumper, green army-style pants and a black baseball cap.
