Human foetus found in plane bathroom

A human foetus has been found in a toilet on board a passenger plane.

The foetus was spotted in the toilet of an American Airlines flight as it sat in a hangar at LaGuardia Airport, New York about 7am local time on Monday, NBC New York reports.

The plane had come from Charlotte, Carolina the night before, and sources told the news station the foetus appeared to be about five to six months old. It was found by cleaners.

Passengers had left the plane by the time it was found as it landed at 10.44pm on Sunday, ABC News reported.

American Airlines has referred all questions to police, but said the find had “no major impact” to its operations.

A source told ABC News there were no incidents reported during the flight.

The New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s forensic team spent hours investigating.

An autopsy is being performed to determine the foetus’s cause of death.

Last month, a newborn baby was found dead inside a bathroom on an AirAsia India flight.

It’s suspected a woman on board gave birth and police detained her for questioning.

In January, a 37-year-old woman was arrested after a dead baby was found in the toilet of an Etihad flight from Bangkok to Jakarta.
