A $100,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the capture of one of Australia’s most wanted men.
Victorian Jonathan Dick is wanted over the February 2017 murder of his brother David in Doncaster, in Melbourne’s northeast, and a hammer assault on a man in Keilor five months later.
He has since kept police at bay for the past 18 months.
“It’s our belief that over the past year Jonathan has essentially been hiding in plain sight,” Victoria Police Homicide Squad head Detective Inspector Tim Day said on Wednesday.
“His movements over the past 18 months are a mystery and we require the public’s help.”
Police have released video footage of Mr Dick at a friend’s wedding in 2007 so members of the public can observe his mannerisms and hear his voice.
Dick, who featured in this year’s list of Crime Stoppers most wanted criminals, has been described by police as a man who “does not stand out”, allowing him to slip into a community without detection.
Dick also has two distinctive tattoos. One is a Wolverine v Sabre-tooth inking on his right thigh extending to his knee and the second on his left calf depicts the Incredible Hulk.
Police would also like to speak to him as part of the ongoing investigation into the Keilor incident where a 38-year-old man was assaulted with a hammer in a residential driveway on Church Street on August 23.
He sustained a minor laceration to the back of his head and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Dick is a suspect in that matter.
Dick is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 176cm tall with a solid build and mousy brown hair.
Police are appealing for Dick to hand himself in and urge anyone who sights Jonathan not to approach him but to call triple-0 immediately.
