'House of horrors' mum sexually abused as child, sister reveals
The “House of Horrors” mum accused of shackling and starving some of her 13 children was sexually abused as a child, her sister claims.
Louise Turpin, 49, and her husband David, 56, made headlines around the world earlier this year after their 17-year-old daughter escaped the family’s California home and called 911.
Authorities discovered 13 children aged from 2 to 29, living in squalor in a home that they said reeked of human waste.
As the couple front a litany of child abuse charges, Ms Turpin’s sister, Teresa Robinette, has lifted the lid on their own childhood.
The 37-year-old sensationally claimed that she and Louise were subjected to sexual abuse at the hands of a wealthy paedophile, in a plan orchestrated by their own mother.
“Our mum should have been protecting us – but she sold us to a wealthy paedophile,” Ms Robinette told The Sun.
“We begged her not to take us to him but she would simply say: ‘I have to clothe and feed you’.
“Louise was abused the worst. He destroyed my self-worth as a child and I know he destroyed hers too.”
The claims come just days after David Turpin had eight new charges filed against him, alleging that he lied on government forms about the children’s schooling.
The couple, who are each being held on $16 million in bail, is due back in court May 18 and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 20.
Last month, the children were treated to a special concert from world-famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
City of Corona Mayor Karen Spiegel says Ma performed Friday at the Corona Regional Medical Center.
The hospital posted a photo of Ma on Twitter and thanked him for sharing his love of music with the siblings.
