Horror moment woman, girl struck by car
A toddler and elderly woman have been struck by a car while crossing a busy intersection in Sydney’s southwest.
Emergency services were called to reports of the incident in Glenfield about 5pm on Tuesday.
Dashcam footage shows the red vehicle purportedly speeding through the intersection of Old Glenfield Rd, before swerving to avoid an oncoming car turning into the other lane.
A four-year-old girl and 72-year-old woman, who were attempting to cross Old Glenfield Rd, were struck after the swerving car slammed into a traffic light.
NSW paramedics treated the pair at the scene.
The woman was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition while the girl was taken to Westmead Childrens Hospital in a stable condition, NSW Police said in a statement.
The vehicle’s driver – an 18-year-old man – was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition where he currently remains.
Officers from Campbelltown Police Area Command established a crime scene that was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
A NSW Police spokesman said the investigation was ongoing and charges had not been laid.
Police have urged anyone with information about the accident or who has dashcam or mobile footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
