Shocking security footage shows brutal glassing attack that left man fighting for life
Security video shows the brutal assault that left a man unconscious, bleeding and fighting for life after a glassing attack in Adelaide’s CBD.
The CCTV footage appears to shows the man being confronted by a person on Gouger Street, in the heart of the city.
Within seconds, another person appears, then the man is knocked to the ground.
The victim is hit while he is down, and the attackers don’t back off until someone finally helps the man to his feet.
By then, the damage is already done. Bleeding heavily, the victim is seen stumbling down the footpath where he collapsed.
Police descend to hunt down the suspects while the 34-year-old victim is rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with critical head injuries.
Locals say they’re shocked by the violence.
“It’s really, really shocking. Kind of unbelievable and there’s a lot of blood. It’s scary,” a young man told 7 News.
“It’s unusual, to have it in this end of the city,” resident Michael Turner said.
“I don’t think we’ve had too many problems here for many years.”
Another commented: “It’s disheartening to see someone else’s blood on the ground.”
Two women aged 31 and 34 were arrested moments later on a nearby side street, and charged with aggravated assault.
Chang Huilee, who witnessed the attack, described it as “really scary”.
“Now I’m thinking we probably need CCTV outside,” he said.
The women remain in custody and will face court next week.
