Horrifying moment powerlifter's leg snaps during lift attempt

WARNING: The following contains graphic images that some may find disturbing.

Russian powerlifter Yaroslav Radoshkevich has suffered one of the most sickening injuries you’re ever likely to see.

Radoshkevich was attempting to lift 250kg at the World Raw Powerlifting Eurasian Championship in Khabarovsk, Russia when it all went wrong.

He had already failed in his first two attempts at the weight, but was clearly intent on making it happen.

As you can see in the video above, Radoshkevich strains under the massive weight before his leg buckles horribly underneath him.

The weights come down on Radoshkevich’s neck as the powerlifter screams in agony.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was reportedly diagnosed with a serious compound fracture of his right tibia.

Pre-existing problem

The 20-year-old told Russian outlet Amur.Info that he had suffered a minor ankle injury while training about two weeks before the competition.

"I thought that it was just pulled, so I did not pay attention," he said.

"I just had painkillers, trained, prepared. I was also advised it would pass by itself, heal."

He now believes the horrible injury will likely end his powerlifting career.

“I can hardly return to this sport following such an injury," he said.

"I had achieved a lot but I will have to quit my hopes and ambitions as rehabilitation will approximately take six months."
