Horrifying moment huge palm tree crushes unsuspecting woman
This is the moment a massive palm tree snaps in half and falls on top of an unsuspecting woman walking nearby.
The incident occurred on Sunday in Tiberias, a city in north-eastern Israel on the Sea of Galilee.
The 66-year-old victim, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving medics.
"When we arrived at the Promenade we saw the injured woman lying on the grass verge, trapped under the trunk of a large tree that had fallen onto her," a responding medic named in Israeli media as Yoel Nagar said.
"We made extensive attempts to revive her and attempted a number of medical procedures, but owing to the extensive nature of her internal injuries we were only then able to determine her death."
Winds blowing at speeds of up to 70 kph were reported at the time of the incident, according to local TV channel Channel 12.
The woman had reportedly been walking on the Tiberias Corniche which overlooks Lake Medina shortly before the tree broke in half.
The upper half of the palm tree can be seen. falling right on top of her and crushing her against the ground.
The police are investigating the incident.
