On May 30, the five-year-old girl was taken to the Paediatrics Department of Wenshan People's Hospital, there, doctors removed a leech from her throat.

The young girl had a cough that just would not go away as well as dyspnea, which is also known as shortness of breath.
It is often described as a tightening in the chest and causes breathlessness or a suffocation feeling.
After an examination, a doctor found the live, 15-centimetre (6-inch) leech under her glottis, which is located in the larynx.
After the doctor successfully removed the leech, the young girl reportedly made a full recovery and was expected to be discharged from the hospital soon after the procedure.
In 2019, a man had an itchy throat and a bloody cough suffered for months before the source of the discomfort was discovered.
Eventually, it was discovered he had a 10cm long leech growing in his windpipe.
