'Hooligan' driver slammed over reckless stunt at intersection

A dangerous driver has been caught on camera doing burnouts in the middle of a busy intersection in Sydney’s west.

Video captured of the reckless stunt shows smoke from the tyres shrouding the white Mitsubishi in Guildford.

A number of other cars are seen driving past the Mitsubishi as it spins in a circle multiple times.

The driver was mocked after the video of the incident was uploaded to Facebook on Friday.

“Um ... well done?” one commented.

“Hooligan,” another said.

One claimed the burnout was a “solid effort” while another commented stunts like this was the reason police were so strict.

“At least he indicates when changing lanes,” one comment said.

Another said: “At least he wasn’t speeding”.

According to the Roads and Maritime Services, there are tough measures to tackle anti-social “car hoon” behaviour.

Those caught doing burnouts or street racing can have their number plates confiscated on the spot and their vehicle impounded.

The maximum court imposed fine for an aggravated burnout is $3300 for first-time offenders but repeat offenders could also be jailed for nine months.

Drivers will also have their licence disqualified for 12 months.
