'A clown shoe': Home and Away star slams politician

Home and Away star Lynne McGranger has been on Aussie screens and in the public eye long enough to know that what you say can come back to bite you, but that didn’t stop her taking a cheeky subtle swing at a politician this week.

The veteran actress has played Summer Bay’s Irene Roberts for an impressive 28 years, but that hasn’t had any impact on her down to earth charm nor her ability to call it like she sees it.

That’s exactly what she did on The Daily Telegraph’s JMO Confidential this week, when discussion on publically airing private opinions turned to politics, and to one politician in particular.

It turns out US President Donald Trump has no fan in Lynne, who cleverly clarified that she wasn’t about to share her very low opinion of the president in a cheeky aside.

“I can have an opinion about that clown shoe that calls himself the POTUS but I don’t know enough facts to start rattling them off,” she laughed.

“When I have had a wine or two, I know so much I can’t even tell you. If you are going to make an opinion, make an opinion, don’t start sprouting facts that you think you know about.”

The star is no stranger to ruffling a few feathers – literally.

Last year she bared it all for a good cause when she participated in Channel 7’s Full Monty Ladies Night performing a striptease alongside stars including Simone Callahan, Nadia Bartel and Casey Donovan.

She also set tongues wagging when she was spotted seemingly smooching Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald at a charity cricket match last year.

The hilarious photo fail was in fact just a case of a bad angle, but the icon of Aussie TV showed her funny side when she shared it to Instagram with a hysterical caption.

“It’s a tough job but someone had to do it,” she wrote, adding a kissy face emoji for good measure.

If you needed further proof that Lynne McGranger is the sassy Aussie star we all need in our lives, look no further.
