Hobart fire reveals cannabis set-up

A suburban Hobart shed fire has revealed a hydroponics set-up, leading police to arrest a man on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

Fire crews were called to a residence in Amaroo Road at Austins Ferry early on Monday to a blaze in a shed, which was found to have been caused by an electrical fault.

"The fire was quickly extinguished and a hydroponics set up involving a number of cannabis plants was located," police Sergeant Marco Cosentino said, adding that a 51-year-old man was being questioned over the matter and that the presence of asbestos in the shed was holding up the investigation.
