Hilarious Woolworths delivery fail exposed on TikTok

The option to have groceries delivered online can be highly convenient — although one woman found out first hand it can be a problem when some items aren't available for your order.

TikTok user laurenashley posted a video showing her recent grocery delivery from Woolworths, detailing one aspect of the shop she was confused about — her substitution for laundry detergent.

Taking to the video-sharing platform, the mum revealed the strange swap, showing three large bags of granola sitting on her counter.

"For those who do your grocery [shopping] online, what is the stupidest thing you have ever been substituted?" she asked users, having a laugh at the situation.

Unusual substitute

In the video, the woman explained she did her usual order but noticed something out of the norm.

"I ordered laundry detergent. They didn't have my usual laundry detergent so this is what I got instead," she continued, flipping the camera to show the bizarre replacement items.

"Thanks Woolworths," she captioned the clip.

Commenters laughed at the situation, sharing their own 'delivery fails'.

"I heard someone ordered a specific vegetable and received the seeds to grow said vegetable instead," one user commented.

Thousands of orders packed daily

A spokesperson from Woolworths told Yahoo News Australia although the personal shoppers try their best to make sure the lists are met, mistakes can happen, with thousands of online orders coming through daily.

"We have a dedicated team of personal shoppers who work hard to handpick thousands of online orders to the highest standard every day," they said.

"While our teams work hard to provide a great experience every time, we don't always get substitutions right.

"We encourage customers to contact us directly should something be amiss with their order so we can rectify it as quickly as possible."

Customer service is also attempting to find the customer to rectify the mistake.
