Hilarious typo in candidate's election campaign ad: 'I'm crying'
A blunder in a Victorian political ad has been the source of much entertainment, with some calling it "refreshingly honest".
The campaign material for liberal candidate for Werribee, Mia Shaw, sparked a flurry of responses after it was posted to the Victorian Labor Facebook page.
In the ad, Ms Shaw talks about her connection with the local community, but it's one part in particular that caught people's attention.
"Serving as your local Councillor is an honour and responsibility I take very seriously," it says.
"I’m proud to have delivered a number of positive changes for our local community, including X and Y."
Obviously delighted over the typo, Victoria Labor poked fun at the mistake.
"The Liberals will deliver X and Y. Labor will deliver the things that matter," the post is captioned.
People react to ad on social media
The post has racked up more than 100 comments since being published on Tuesday afternoon, with many laughing at the error.
"I’m crying," one person said.
"I’m conflicted, I'm a big supporter of X but I don't think Y is appropriate in today's fiscal environment," another person joked. "Glad I don't live in that electorate so I can avoid hard decisions like this."
"Attention to detail. Yep, that would be a winner for me," someone sarcastically said.
"This is not very inclusive...what about the rest of the alphabet," a fourth person wrote.
Some thought the mistake was a "refreshingly honest political ad".
Others labelled the blunder downright embarrassing.
"Big ooooff," one person commented.
The 2022 Victorian state election is scheduled to be held on November 26 this year.
