Hilarious response to little-known car hack: '33 years wasted'

TikTok is a goldmine for tips and tricks — with a TikTok user sharing a trick she discovered after watching it on the app.

US TikTok user Jess, who goes by jmac8781, shared the car trick she'd learned from the video sharing platform, amazed she hadn't come across it before.

Intrigued after seeing other TikToker's tricks to keep interior door handles of cars propped out so they're easier to grab onto, she decided to try it herself.

In the video, the American teacher watched the hack and then filmed herself rushing to the car park to try it out for herself.

She demonstrated the handles flicking back into place before popping a little piece of plastic out near the handle to keep it sticking out, thrilled with the results.

However, the 'hack' may be one that only works on some cars in Australia with most of the amazement over the little-known feature coming from American viewers.

"33 years wasted," she captioned the video, with fellow users marvelling at the discovery alongside her, explaining in the comments the flap to prop them open were hidden.

“I had to use my keys to pop them out," she added.

Car handle hack impresses some but not all

Followers were impressed by the successful find, surprised they hadn't noticed it before.

"Why don’t these things come with instructions," one user commented.

Others celebrated TikTok for teaching people little known tips and tricks.

"Tiktok teaches me new things every day," another said.

Some were confused as to why she was so excited by it.

"Genuinely curious though. What do you use this for? I feel like I’m missing something," a user wrote.

"Guess I don't see the point," agreed another, "Is it cool that it stays down? It's still a handle — just propped down?"
