'He's a good person': Mum speaks out after son's Bunnings chainsaw rant

A man who stripped down to his underwear during a bizarre chainsaw-wielding rant outside a Bunnings store has been charged with disorderly conduct and possession of drugs.

The 27-year-old smashed his car with a golf club outside Bunnings in the Perth suburb of Cannington before throwing a baby seat to the ground.

His mother, who watched the footage on Seven News on Thursday night, is begging for someone to help her son.

“[He’s] not violent but anything could happen in the state he’s in,” she said.

“He’s a lethal weapon and it’s scary.”

She didn’t want to show her face, but she is desperate for help.

“More needs to be done and I’m not sure how that happens, but something has to,” she said.

She says her son has gone from owning his own business to barely being able to keep a roof over his head.

“He’s pretty much lost everything,” she said.

His mum says he will be mortified when she sees the video, which he is yet to watch.

“At the end of the day, he’s a good person, he’s just in a bad place,” she said.

“This stuff on the street is just evil.”
