'Help me hide a body': People baffled by creepy sign in Sydney

Creepy posters have been stuck around Sydney offering $30 and a McDonald’s meal to someone willing to help a stranger “hide a body”.

A picture of the photocopied sign was shared to Reddit yesterday after it was found stuck to poles in Darlinghurst, leaving many people baffled by the legitimacy of the disturbing request.

The sign reads: “Want $30? Help me hide a body.”

The poster continues to say the corpse is that of a pet that died in its sleep, and the owner needs help removing the “small body” because they are a “wimp”.

“Help me remove his body and I’ll happily pay for your dinner at Mccass [sic],” the person known only as ‘Sam’ wrote on the poster.

“Small body, no blood. Please send help.”

Not everyone is convinced the grim request is genuine, with many quick to point out a string of flaws in the creepy sign, including the typo of Macca’s spelled Mccass.

“Unclear whether ‘MCCASS’ dinner is covered along with the $30, or whether they’re making assumptions about what you’ll be spending your hard earned money on and they’re cutting out a superfluous step in the exchange,” one wrote on Reddit.

They also pointed out ‘Sam’ had got their own phone number wrong, and manually corrected it with “4-year-old-learn-to-write font”.

What also bewildered many was that ‘Sam’ went to the trouble to create a website for the exercise – www.mypetisdead.com – but the site doesn’t actually exist.

“Not sure whether that’s weirder than if it did exist,” the Redditor wrote.
