Helicopter crashes into roof of Melbourne home

A helicopter has crashed into a home in Melbourne's southeast.

Aerial vision from Nine News shows the the aircraft on the roof of a Mentone property, with part of the roof destroyed.

Emergency services were called to the home at Tylden Court just after 1pm with Fire Rescue Victoria arriving within four minutes.

Victoria Police said in a statement the sole male pilot was briefly trapped inside the wreckage.

He has since been freed and taken to The Alfred Hospital in a stable condition suffering lower body injuries, Ambulance Victoria told Yahoo News Australia.

No one was inside the home at the time of the incident.

Fire Rescue Victoria remain on site to make the property safe.
