Heavily pregnant woman found dead in 'suspicious' circumstances

A crime scene has been established after a heavily pregnant woman was found dead in Perth’s northeast.

The woman, 36, was found dead at a home on Mataro Drive in Dayton on Monday about 6pm.

“The death is being treated as suspicious until it can be determined otherwise,” WA Police said.

The woman was a mum of three and just weeks away from giving birth and was on maternity leave at the time of her death, The West Australian reported. Police confirmed to Yahoo News Australia that the baby had also died.

Friends and family described the victim to the paper as a "peaceful person".

They told WA Today the woman worked as a nurse at an aged care facility and that she was a "very gentle" person.

Police wish to speak with anyone who witnessed “suspicious activity” in the street between 10am Saturday and 6pm Monday.
