Heartwarming video shows disabled shelter dogs visiting beach in wheelchairs

Most pups love nothing more than a day out at the beach, and one animal shelter has made sure none of their adorable residents miss out.

In a heartwarming video shared on Facebook, the Moroccan-based SFT Animal Shelter took three of its disabled dogs on a trip to the beach, each running around in its own wheelchair.

The three dogs, which all have little or no movement in their hind legs, explore the sand and the sea and do not allow their disability to get in the way of their good time.

“Sahara, Rzala and a lucky puppy on the beach. Always a great opportunity to educate people and for our babies to have fun,” the shelter captioned the clip, which has amassed more than 1300 views since being uploaded on September 15.

There are currently more than 500 animals in the shelter, with 15 of those in wheelchairs.

The ‘wheelies’ have had difficult lives, including Caesar who lost his back legs and tail after being hit by a train.

According to the shelter’s website, Caesar was left to die and after spending days in agony he was finally taken to SFT.

“Disabled dogs are also amazing and have the right to live and be treated with love and care. We know that. We want everyone to know that,” the shelter wrote on Facebook.

SFT is a ‘forever’ home, which means they don’t set a deadline on rehoming dogs and have a strict no-kill policy.
