A police officer has gone above and beyond the line of duty after he noticed a little girl watching other partygoers hit the dancefloor.
Houston Police Officer Sandy Fernandez was working security at a quinceañera, the Hispanic tradition for a girl’s 15th birthday, when he spotted the wheelchair-bound youngster watching on curiously.
“Every time she would pass the dance floor she would just laugh, she would smile at me. Every time she passed by I would just smile and wave,” Fernandez told CBS News.
After initially hitting the dancefloor with her mum, Officer Fernandez later reached out and asked the smiling child to be his dancing partner.
“I started spinning her around and she followed me and she smiled the whole time… she just stole my heart” Fernandez says.
“We were just following the music and the moment… she was such a sweetheart.”
DJ Juan Mancha was working at the event when he noticed the cute dance duo and simply had to film them.
“This is why I love my job,” he captioned the adorable video.
A spokesperson for the Houston Police Department, who also shared the now-viral vision, thanked the DJ for capturing the cute moment.
“Thank you to Juan Mancha (Djmanchas) for sharing this sweet video of HPD Officer Fernández dancing with a little girl at a party this weekend …. this is what #relationalpolicing is about,” they said.
