Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly have an "unreasonable" request as they prepare for the release of their tell-all Netflix documentary and the Duke of Sussex's memoir. Sources have reportedly claimed the couple is toying with the idea of "reaching out" to the royal family after the "inevitable furore" around the documentary and book dies down.
However, royal insiders are questioning whether or not Harry's family, particularly his brother Prince William, who has been left particularly hurt by the Duke's behaviour since stepping down as a senior royal, will welcome such a gesture.
"The trouble is when it comes to the Sussexes and these revenge projects that they are so hell-bent on, people are asking when will enough be enough?" one insider told the Daily Mail. "It's not unreasonable in the circumstances to ask whether they are even interested in repairing their relationships with the family."
The trailer for the couple's documentary, titled Harry & Meghan, features Harry saying, "No-one sees what's happening behind closed doors," as photos show Meghan crying.
A photo of William and his wife Kate at the 2019 Commonwealth Service in London, with the Sussexes sitting behind them also appears at one point, with some sources suggesting it as being seen as a "declaration of war" by the Sussexes. At one point in the trailer, Meghan tells the cameras, "When the stakes are this high, doesn't it make more sense to hear our story from us?"
The six-part documentary will be split in two halves with three episodes each, with episode one dropping next Thursday, December 8, three months after the death of Harry's grandmother the Queen. Insiders suggest the royal family will be "unlikely" to react to the documentary and Harry's book Spare but will consider their position once they hear what the couple has to say.
The Queen famously said of the pair's infamous Oprah interview in 2021 that "recollections may vary".
Harry always made sure never to hit out against his grandmother, however, his father, who is now King, has been accused of abandoning him emotionally and financially.
