Harrowing details revealed after pregnant woman 'burned alive in car'

Harrowing new details have emerged after a pregnant woman and her passenger were allegedly tied up and burned alive in a car.

Ellen Priscila Ferreira da Silva, 24, was found inside a charred car that had been doused in petrol alongside her passenger Ely Carlos dos Santos near Sao Paulo in Brazil on October 17.

According to Newsweek, family members could identify the bodies after they recognised the burnt out car belonged to Ms da Silva’s mother.

It has since been revealed a number of people have been arrested, including a 38-year-old man who is reportedly Ms Da Silva's married boyfriend.

It is understood the married boyfriend is the father of Ms da Silva’s unborn baby and 7 News reported the boyfriend’s car had visited the crime scene, which raised suspicion.

Along with the boyfriend, two men aged 19 and 35 and a 36-year-old woman were also arrested. The 19-year-old and the woman have reportedly admitted to the crime, the others have denied their involvement.

"It was a premeditated and very cruel crime," Investigator Paulo de Tarso said according to Newsweek.

"One of the suspects even personally comforted the victim's mother after her death was confirmed."

Police are yet to establish a motive behind the murders, though Newsweek reported there are three potential motives – revenge, crime of passion, and drug debt.

De Tarso said Ms da Silva and Mr Carlos may have been in debt to a drug dealer, though he also pointed out Ms da Silva refused to abort her child.
