Haagen-Dazs products removed from Woolworths, Coles, IGA after recall
An urgent recall has been issued for a popular ice cream brand sold in Coles, Woolworths and IGA over contamination fears of a potentially toxic chemical.
Two Haagen-Dazs products have been stripped from shelves over the potential presence of ethylene oxide.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) issued the warning on Thursday over Haagen-Dazs’ Vanilla 457ml and Häagen-Dazs Classic Collection Mini Cups 4 x 95mL.
The recall affects all Best Before dates from 04.07.2022 up to and including 21.07.2023.
Food products containing ethylene oxide may cause illness if consumed, FSANZ warned.
Consumption of ethylene oxide can cause irritation to the gastrointestinal or respiratory tracts, while exposure can lead to eye pain, vomiting, headaches, sore throat, difficulty breathing and blurred vision, the CDC reports.
Häagen-Dazs Vanilla 457ml has been available for sale at Coles, Woolworths and independent retailers including IGA nationally.
While the Häagen-Dazs Classic Collection Mini Cups 4 x 95mL has been available for sale at Coles.
Consumers should not eat this product and should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
