Gutsy grandmother, 84, chases intruder out of home

A grandmother has chased an intruder out of her North Melbourne home after she spotted a shadow while watching TV.

The 84-year-old grandmother of six confronted two callous thieves who had broken into her home and stole her keys and phone.

“Suddenly I saw a figure of a female,” Antionetta said.

Refusing to let the intruder get away, Antionetta ran after the woman down the street.

To her shock, she then discovered the woman had a male accomplice and they ran away.

The stolen phone was full of precious photographs of her family and grandchildren.

“I was very emotional,” the 84-year-old said after the robbery.

Despite not being physically injured during the burglary, Antonietta said she was shaken by the ordeal.

But she is determined to move on and not let the incident take her freedom away.

Her message to the thieves was simple.

“You’re young, what do you do this for?,” she said.
