Two young girls have been caught up in a terrifying home invasion in Sydney’s west, with police now searching for a group of gun-wielding men.

Police were called to a home ion Westwood Street in Prairiewood about 1.55 on Friday morning after reports of a home invasion.

Officers from Fairfield City police area command were told four men with face coverings and armed with pistols forced entry into the premises before leaving with jewellery and cash.

At the time, a woman in her 50s, and two girls aged eight and 10 were home.

There were no injuries.

Police have established a crime scene at the home and are searching for the gunmen.

Anyone with information is urged to contact crimestoppers or Fairfield City police station.
