Part of the central Queensland city of Mackay is in lockdown as police search for a man armed with a gun.
An emergency situation was declared about 5.30pm on Wednesday after officers were called to Gregory Street, where there were reports of a gunman near a licensed premises.
Queensland Police said in a statement negotiators were on scene and urged the public to stay away from the locked-down area.
"Members of the public inside the declared zone should seek shelter in a secure place," they said in a statement.
"There are no reported injuries at this stage."
The declared zone includes the area encompassing the intersection of River and MacCallister Streets to the intersection of River and Wood Streets, and from Wood and Gordon Streets, to Gordon and MacCallister Streets.
