Gun and drugs lead to NSW teen's arrest

A teenager will face court after a pistol, cocaine, prescription drugs and cash were allegedly found in a search of his car in Sydney's west.

The car was searched after the driver, a 19-year-old man, nearly hit a police car on patrol in Granville as he emerged from a side street at about 7:40pm on Friday night, police say.

The South Granville man had pulled over and was walking away from the car when officers stopped him and inspected it, discovering a Glock pistol, drugs and almost $4500 in cash.

He was taken to the Granville Police Station and charged with 10 offences, including possessing a loaded firearm in a public place and possessing a prohibited drug.

The 19-year-old was refused bail to face the Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
