Grisly find inside car on suburban street
Police have launched an investigation after a woman’s body was found in a car in southern Sydney.
Emergency services were called to Durham St in Hurstville, 16km south of Sydney’s CBD, shortly after 5.15pm on Tuesday following reports of a concern for welfare.
A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was discovered dead in the passenger seat of the car.
Officers found her handbag on the roof and a white blanket covering the car.
The car itself was parked in a 30 minute parking zone, directly alongside a construction site, next to a bus shelter on Durham St and within 100 meters of an apartment complex.
Authorities are treating the death as suspicious and have established a crime scene.
Police are yet to release the woman’s identity and any other information surrounding her death.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
