The body of a missing fisherman has been found but the search will continue for a second man who went missing in the Snowy Mountains.

Authorities began searching for the two men, both aged 73, who had been fishing in Lake Eucambene near Adaminaby.

The alarm was raised after they did not return home on Wednesday night.

The search will continue for a second fisherman who is still missing in Lake Eucambene.

An extensive search of the waterway and nearby bushland was conducted by police, Marine Command divers, NSW SES, Toll Rescue helicopter, Westpac Helicopter and Marine Rescue on Thursday.

The search led to the discovery of one of the men, though the rescue effort had to be called off in the afternoon.

“Despite an extensive search, the second man was not located, and the multi-agency search was suspended about 3pm due to bad weather,” a NSW Police spokesman said.

The search resumed about 8am on Friday.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
