Greens' Hanson-Young survives challenge

Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young has survived a preselection challenge to retain the top spot on her party's South Australian Senate ticket for the next election.

Senator Hanson-Young, who has been in parliament for almost 10 years, narrowly fended off a challenge from former senator Robert Simms to be the party's lead candidate in SA.

"I'm delighted to have been chosen by the Greens members to lead our team to next election," Senator Hanson-Young said on Twitter.
