Man jailed for life after killing family over webcam model

A Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his parents and brother because prosecutors say he was angry they cut off his relationship with a model he met on an adult website.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that the 12 jurors opted not to unanimously choose the death penalty for Grant Amato on Monday (local time).

The finding meant an automatic life sentence for Grant Amato.

The man reportedly killed his mother Margaret and then waited for his father to return home before killing him. He then waited for his brother Cody to turn up to the house and murdered him.

The same panel previously found him guilty of three counts of first-degree murder in the January slayings.

Florida Seminole County deputies say Grant Amato had stolen around $88,000 and guns from his brother to talk to a Bulgarian woman he met online and began a relationship with.

Investigators say Grant Amato also stole more than $221,000 from his father, including a loan taken out on his parents’ house in Chuluota, Florida.

Authorities say Grant Amato sent the woman, reportedly named Silvie, over $265,000 during a three-month period.

Jason Amato, the convicted man’s sole surviving sibling, briefly testified before the sentencing, the Orland Sentinel reported.

“Though they are gone, I want everyone to know Chad, Margaret and Cody were amazing people that will live forever,” he said through tears.
