Grandson 'found elderly couple dead' in suspected murder suicide

An elderly husband and wife in a suspected murder-suicide are believed to have been found dead by their own grandson.

Detectives spent Wednesday at the scene of a the family tragedy at a quiet, isolated property just south of Bacchus Marsh. Seven News understands the couple had lived at the property for decades.

The pair are believed to have been aged in their 90s and had been married for almost 70 years. The husband was a WWII veteran.

The farm is just one of five properties on Smiths Road, Parwan. The farm is in a sleepy part of the area, at the end of the road and down a long gravel driveway.

A local worker said news of the tragedy has saddened the “close knit community”.

“So, anything like that, especially with the farmers out here and what they’re going through, it’s nothing we want to hear,” Jordan Rodgers said.

“It’s very sad for the family and friends involved.”

Police have not released the cause of death and are confident they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
