Grandma dies after crashing into truck driven by her grandson


An 88-year-old woman has died after her car collided with a truck that was being driven by her grandson.

Authorities believe Shirley Schutter’s car was hit on the driver’s side after she pulled out into the path of the truck in the US state of Iowa, KWQC reports.

The crash happened on Monday afternoon (local time) near the intersection of Highway 69 and 5th Avenue in Leland.

The truck was being driven by the woman’s 27-year-old grandson, Ethan Schutter, according to US media outlets.

It is believed Mr Schutter was not physically injured in the accident.

Ms Schutter has been remembered as an avid reader who kept up with current events, enjoyed baseball and was still interested in the family farm operation.

“Family was always very important to her and she enjoyed the times she spent with them,” an obituary for the 88-year-old read.
